Valerie Leonard has been an animal welfare advocate for over 40 years. She is honored to be a Board Member of DC Actors for Animals / Beltway Barks and she is on the Board of a PAC, Maryland Votes For Animals. Valerie is a professional actor who has performed on Broadway, Off-Broadway, National Tours, Regionally and Locally. She is privileged to be an Associate Artist at the Olney Theatre in Olney, MD and is a proud member of Actor’s Equity
michelle perkins (clerk)
Michelle has always felt strongly connected to the natural world and has volunteered for many animal and environmental causes. She was raised in New Zealand, has travelled extensively and now lives on Nantucket where she is heavily involved in animal welfare causes. Michelle works as the Manager of Nantucket island Safe Harbor for Animals (NiSHA) - the animal shelter and domestic animal welfare organization on Nantucket. She is also on the board of MMAN - Marine Mammal Alliance Nantucket and a member of the marine mammal rescue team (ACKMMR), Nantucket Maine Mammal Rescue. Michelle has volunteered for marine mammal causes on Nantucket since 1998 and was a member of the NEAq marine mammal stranding team from 2000 to 2011. During this time Michelle attended training workshops at the aquarium and on Nantucket and responded to marine mammal rescues on the island.
